Social Distinction in a Rising Credential Society: Malaysian Students and Recent Graduates of UK Programmes
My thesis concerns the role of a UK international education in the occupational and status advancement of middle-class Malaysian young adults. Through qualitative semi-structured interviews with various relevant Malaysian students and recent graduates in Malaysia and the UK, I seek to understand how they make meaning of and manage the aspiration for income, jobs and status.
