Join us for a screening and afterwards discussion of the film 'Terraferma' organised by the Sociology and Global Change Seminar Series.

The film follows the lives of the locals at the island of Linosa in Italy, the relations and the tensions which are emerging between them as immigrands arriving during the summer.

A fisherman and his family, the central characters, become conflicted between the official government laws regarding immigrant flows and the 'law of the sea' when he helps a group of immigrants stranded on an overburdened raft.
