BSA Emotions Study Group: Emotions in the Social World - Call for Papers
Workshop: 9 September 2016
University of Edinburgh
The Sociology of Emotions study group is a newly established group of the British Sociological Association. It brings together theory, methods and research on social emotions and affect. Details about the group can be found here.
To mark the formation of this group, a one-day workshop will be held on Friday 9 September 2016, at the University of Edinburgh. The workshop will provide opportunities for researchers to present and discuss aspects of their work, gain a sense of the breadth and depth of emotion research in the UK and elsewhere, and to establish contact with fellow researchers in the field.
We invite papers from researchers working on social aspects of emotion. We are primarily interested in sociological papers, but welcome studies from related disciplines including history, geography, politics, criminology, work and organisations and health and illness. Papers showcasing new methods for researching emotions and literature reviews on specific emotions and types of affect are particularly welcome. We would also encourage PhD candidates to submit abstracts. A small fee will be charged to cover catering.
Please send brief abstracts of 150-250 words to email@example.com by 09 August 2016
