The annual New Directions Conference allows the Sociology department to showcase our postgraduate students’ research.

The deadline for abstract submission is Friday, 2 March 2018.

This year’s conference (19-20 April 2018) will include presentations from MRes students, first-year PhD students, and advanced PhD students about their work in progress. Our keynote speaker is Professor Giselinde Kuipers (University of Amsterdam). The programme also features several thematic panels composed of PG students and staff members. A provisional programme for the conference will be posted shortly.

All events will take place in the Project Room 1.06 in 50 George Square.

Registration is free. Students, panel speakers, staff and attendees should all register by Monday, 16 April 2018.

Sociology students, sociology staff, and guest speakers are also invited to attend the conference dinner on Thursday, 19th of April. (The three-course meal is free for students and conference participants). Reserve your place at the conference dinner when you register.
