Sociology: About

The Edinburgh Sociology Society

In addition to the formal representative structures in place, the Sociology Society (SocSoc), is an Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA) society for undergraduate and postgraduate students at Edinburgh, and anyone else with an interest in sociology.

SocSoc is a student-run society designed to help fuel a sense of community in the Sociology department. It is open to anyone with an interest in Sociology, be they undergraduate, postgraduate or staff members - everyone is welcome to join us. The society runs both social and academic events across both semesters, so keep an eye out for posters around the School building and email notifications that are sent out regularly.

Our social events are held weekly, and these may include movie screenings, pub nights and meals out. Our goal is to create a space in which you can meet other Sociology students and discuss and share ideas in a relaxed and friendly environment. Full year membership is only £3 for students, and new members are welcome to join at any time via the EUSA website

We know it can be difficult arriving in a new place without knowing the wheres, hows and whys, so if you have questions about navigating university policy, finding your way around Edinburgh, or even where to find a good bar, please contact us using one of our links below.

If you would like more information about the society or are interested in becoming a member, please catch us during Freshers Week or at one of our events that run throughout the year.
